Another camera bag thread

My Due east-M10 will be here in iv days, and I already have the all-time camera bag I've found for my gear, but since I'm adding a second body, and before long the 45mm, I'm thinking about upgrading the handbag.

I'm actually into vintage sail type of messenger bags, a-la-billingham, but I rather spend the 260 $ on the 45mm, than on the bag, so the Billingham is out of my attain for the moment.

I'm looking for the following features:

- No velcro. Again, Billingham leather and brass fasteners are crawly. It would exist a nail if I can get one with those closures.

- Water protection (it rains a LOT in Panama)

- Room for E-M10 + Panny twenty, xiv, 45-150 and the Oly 45. Maybe carry the Lumix G5 along, when doing video too as stills, but it will non be at that place all the time, so no biggie. Simply non too big either. Just enough, and not also much more than than my actual bag (Domke F-5XB with magnet conversion)

Whatever ideas?

I am going to follow this thread as I desire to see what people get.   I just bought the olive green Tenba mini messenger handbag and it's awesome but I also don't prefer the Velcro.   I volition live with it every bit I can open from the top with a quiet zipper pouch.

It is likewise a bit small for my OMD EM1 with the Bombardment grip and my smaller Black Rapid metro strap.    It fits fine even with the forty-150 f2.8 attached, simply with a MacBook Pro thirteen retina in the calculator pouch, the photographic camera so bulges out.    I also like to continue the detachable flash fastened and between that and the RStrap knuckle I cant plough it the other way.

I ordered the larger Minor size to try that ane as actually similar this bag.   But over again I don't prefer the Velcro but it probably is expert I case th bag tips over to keep things in.

Sounds as I am carrying a chip more than yous.  I volition have the two pro zooms and the 7-14 when it comes out, as well as a flash and sometimes my MBP.

I have and so many bags but what you're request isn't possible.

Vintage canvas, or leather are not weather proof.  I have a bunch of ONA canvass bags and even their backpack just they are not practiced for rain.  Once dampened they volition take days for the canvas to exist truly dry out.

I don't know of whatsoever water proof all leather bags will sealed seams so I don't think all leather is the style to become.  In Europe, there was a Delsey line of all leather photo numberless, I accept three of these merely once more, I wouldn't apply them in the tropics.

Yous don't want velcro then Think Tank retrospective is out of the running.  That would have been my recommendation.  the canvas is water resistant and it does accept a pelting cover but it isn't quite retro plenty for you.

The is Woltan arts and crafts Picket, I don't take one but the new artificial waxed canvas with leather trim is h2o resistat ad you can upgrade from the standard removeable insert to a zippered waterproof insert.  These are expensive

I think their thought of a removeable insert that is water proof is a groovy thought.  put water proof zipper on a completely water proof insert and you're skilful to go.  Of grade, you lot'll want to accept silica gel inserts

Unfortunately, I don't know of any reasonably priced waterproof camera bag that is also vintage looking.

If I ever move to Seattle, I would probably put an insert into ane of my hyalite bags.  Not vintage though

The F10 is big enough for your lenses, but might be a little likewise small for easy employ with the second trunk. I have the velcro covered and just utilize the brass carabine.

There is a nice looking Crumbler handbag with leather - but I have not handled information technology yet.

For both I am not sure they could withstand a tropical rain without additional protection, just if your F5 is ok, they might be proficient plenty.

I am very happy with my Crumpler Six Meg Dollar Abode.  Information technology has velcro on the main flap, but has clever flaps to cover the velcro when in use.  I carry my EM10, a Pen body and 3 lenses.  The Five 1000000 Dollar Home is a little smaller.

Well, when I said vintage sheet and leather, I meant the look of it, non really an old purse or example. I know old numberless were non really good for weather protection, but today's engineering provides improve ways of treating leather and canvas to make information technology at least light rain proof, which is what I'm talking about. My Domke pocketbook comes with a tin of grease to water proof the canvas, and I'yard very happy with it. If a sling pocketbook is an option and then he tamrac 6z might exist interesting for you. Or the bigger models (7z, etc.). I use it to carry an E-M10 with its native grip and a lens attached (say 20/1.seven), using the following arrangement of its iii compartments: 1. a flash + 14/ii.5; 2. the 9mm trunk cam + the camera with the lens facing downwardly; 3. 45/ane.8 and 9-xviii. In the front pocket I have iii filter boxes + a spare SD + a spare bombardment + a WB menu. On the correct side of the purse I attach an ultrapod 2 that I carry permanently. On the left side I plan to attach an arca swiss holder, like the peak design prune or the spider holster - to have an easy way to secure the camera without opening and closing the purse. The upsides: very efficient arrangement, well padded, relatively inexpensive. The downsides: non water proof (although it is quite thick and the padding seems to absorb water pretty OK. i guess that you lot can attach/include a folded h2o-proof bag if you want to), the attachment is slightly hard to open/close hand-handed if you similar to completely open up/shut the bag. I think that the 7z has an additional strap to secure the purse to your back to avert movements. Information technology's not the most fancy pocketbook but it'southward very good for what information technology is.

Re: Look at Tenba Messenger Bags

Very light weight, water resist, and a zipper on the top that ways y'all take NO flap to worry about.  It is a great pick to have.  The strap is comfortable and it has loops on the ends and then yous tin can hang a dump bag off one side and/or a water bottle bag on the other.

http://www.tenba.com/Categories/Messenger-Bags.aspx

The mini is good for MFT body and a few lenses, I accept used the modest for a GH1 and 14-140, GF1 and a number of lenses.

There are many pockets for storage.  It tin can work like a regular messenger with flap, if you want.  Generally you will merely use for load outs, and not working.

I commonly get out the TG3 and the 60mm home since I got the ii zooms and I find that using a small bag limits what you tin conduct; leaving dwelling stuff y'all won't employ. Now that I just had a GAS attack and bought a Nikon one V3, I will probably add a couple of lenses and may go for a bigger bag.
